QR code sizing, contrast, and print checks

Most failed scans are not generator bugs. They are codes that printed too small, too low-contrast, or too close to the artwork edge.

Size

For handheld scanning, keep the code at least about 2 cm / 0.8 in on the shortest side, larger if people scan from a meter away. SVG scales without going blocky.

Quiet zone and contrast

Leave a clear margin around the modules. Dark modules on a light field remain the most reliable. Transparent dark designs on a dark poster need a light patch behind the code.

Test before you print a batch

Is SVG better than PNG for print?
SVG is usually better for print because it stays sharp at any size. PNG is fine for screens and quick sharing.
Does a logo in the center make scanning worse?
A small centered logo can still scan if error correction and contrast are healthy. Oversized logos are the usual failure.
