Static vs dynamic QR codes

The difference is not visual. It is whether the destination is frozen inside the image or stored behind a FIXTET redirect you can change.

Static QR

The payload lives in the downloaded file. That is why static codes are free and work forever for the original destination. If the URL changes, the printed code does not.

Dynamic QR

The printed code points at a FIXTET link. You can edit the destination later, keep scan counts, and keep the same printed artwork. Dynamic QR is an annual product, not a free toggle.

A practical rule

Print a static code for a destination that will not move: a Wi‑Fi network, a personal email, a one-off PDF. Use Dynamic QR for menus, packaging, and posters you expect to reuse.

Can I convert a printed static QR into a dynamic one?
No. A static file already contains the destination. To get an editable destination you generate a Dynamic QR and print that file instead.
Does Dynamic QR change the look of the code?
The studio design controls are the same. The difference is the payload and the account/plan requirement, not a special visual style.
